Launching On Kickstarter

THE TORONTO PLAYING CARD COMPANY IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE

ONCE UPON A TIME DECK,

FEATURING ARTWORK BY THE TALENTED

FEATURED DECK ARTIST

Once Upon A Time

Born on the Spanish island of Mallorca and formally trained in Barcelona, Marilen has been creating art for as long as she can remember.  As a child she was never very far from her colours and notebooks, drawing pictures of mermaids and pretty girls.

Having come a long way since those days, she is influenced by artists such as Serge Birault, Lois Van Baarle, Medusa Dollmaker, Baizley, Oleg Doug and Rebeca Puebla -- among many others.

It is through these influences and hard work and training that she has developed her own unique style that is both compelling and wonderful.

Although Marilen still has a deep passion for illustration, Photoshop, and her notebooks, she spends much of her time now creating beautiful artwork at her tattoo shop in Mallorca.  Having owned it for about one year, she loves the compromise that occurs between her and the client in creating a piece of artwork that will last on their skin forever.

WHO WE ARE

We are the Toronto Playing Card Company

and we love cards.

Our mission is to work with talented emerging artists both locally and from around the world - to craft exquisite decks of playing cards.

As one of humanity’s oldest games, playing cards have the power to connect us, enthrall us, entertain us, excite us, surprise us, thrill us, or even devastate us.

At the Toronto Playing Card Company, we view each deck of cards as a work of art. Every deck we release will consist of fifty-four lovingly crafted portraits that will reveal the artist’s ability like few other mediums.

Whether you play with them or just admire them, any person who holds a completed deck will feel an undeniable bond to them. It is a bond that is forged with the soul of the artist.
